Scientific conferences, symposia, workshops, and other gatherings play a crucial role in fostering effective communication, networking, and collaboration within the scientific community. For early-career researchers, these events also serve as invaluable educational opportunities, especially through summer and winter schools.
The IMPRS-APS encourages doctoral students to participate in conferences, while group leaders hold the final authority in determining the most suitable means of disseminating research findings from their groups. To support this engagement, IMPRS-APS allocates each doctoral student
a personal budget of €3000 for the duration of the program. This budget can be applied to travel and registration fees, regardless of the advisor’s funding situation. In addition, an oral presentation at an international meeting earns one
credit point (up to a maximum of one credit point within a year of the PhD program).
