Credit Point System

To obtain your certificate, a total of 6 credit points (CP) must be earned during your PhD studies.

You can accumulate credit points through the following activities, each of which bring 1 CP:
  • attending a semester-long lecture course that is relevant to IMPRS-APS, confirmed by an appropriate document certifying that the course requirements have been fulfilled;
  • attending all the lectures in a week-long lecture block („Blockvorlesung“) organized by IMPRS-APS.
  • making an oral presentation at an international scientific meeting (such as a conference, symposium, workshop, or summer/winter school). You can earn a maximum of 1 CP per year of the doctoral program by giving such talks;
  • conducting tutorials for a lecture course related to advanced photon science.
Please note that at least 3 of the 6 credit points must be obtained from attending lectures. If you wish to enroll in a lecture course not listed on the IMPRS-APS website, please contact the scientific coordinator(s) of IMPRS-APS before the lecture starts, providing a course description and a brief explanation of how it aligns with your scientific goals.

Please note that you will not receive a credit point for soft skills courses; however, you will get a certificate for each soft skills course that you successfully complete.
