The doctoral students of IMPRS-APS meet every year to discuss the progress of their research and to foster their interactions. The meetings are usually held at Ringberg Castle. This location provides an atmosphere away from the daily lab routine, in which the young researchers can synthesize new thoughts and ideas. This is also an ideal environment to integrate new doctoral students into the IMPRS-APS through social interactions with other members of the research school.
The short presentations given by doctoral students at the annual meeting allow them to learn about the topics that others are working on and to talk about their research, which sometimes motivates collaboration between different groups within the IMPRS-APS. Importantly, the annual meeting provides a framework where students gain confidence in presenting and discussing their research.
