Presenting Science with Impact

Presentation Workshop with Carsten Rohr

March 19, 2025

In today’s workshop, trainer Carsten Rohr guided our PhD candidates in effectively presenting their research findings.

Less is more. This timeless principle holds true for many aspects of life, but especially when it comes to holding presentations.

As a scientist, presenting your findings is an integral part of your research journey – whether it’s at a group seminar, a conference or at the annual meeting of the IMPRS-APS.

However, a good presentation requires much more than just sharing data.

Common issues that trainer Carsten Rohr identifies with scientific presentations include too much and too dense content as well as using complex language.

In today's presentation workshop, Carsten Rohr guided our PhD candidates in avoiding these mistakes and on presenting science with an impact instead. The session wasn't just about sharing concepts; it included hands-on training, allowing participants for example to work on their own slides.

Today's session focused on the key aspects of content and structure. Next week, a second session will explore personal presentation skills and give students the chance to apply what they've learned to their upcoming presentations at the IMPRS-APS annual meeting.

We are already looking forward to your presentations!
