Visiting the European Southern Observatory
Insight into R&D in optics and photonics
Our students got the unique opportunity to check out the laboratories at ESO!

Today, our students experienced a special highlight. Together with Françoise Delplancke-Ströbele from the European Southern Observatory (ESO), our coordinator Lena Beggel organized a visit to the ESO for the students.
The young researchers, alongside colleagues from other research institutions, gained an exciting insight into the work of astronomers. The group visited a wide variety of laboratories, focusing on the important role of optics and photonics in the exploration of our universe.
An additional key highlight was a look into the large integration hall where ESO engineers assemble and test advanced astronomical systems.
Thanks to Françoise Delplancke and the ESO team for the interesting insight!
