“the only technology that can make transmissive optics in the XUV”
Meet our IMPRS-APS alumnus Marcus Ossiander.
Creating attosecond pulses goes hand in hand with extreme ultraviolet (XUV) light. However, manipulating light in this spectral region does not work with traditional optics.
At TU Graz, our former IMPRS-APS researcher Marcus Ossiander is tackling this challenge. In his research group 'Attosecond Metaoptic Microscopy', he develops new optical solutions for XUV light using a novel technique called 'metasurfaces' - ultra-flat optical components made up of countless nano-sized elements.
In this interview, Marcus talks about metasurfaces and their applications, his typical work day as an assistant professor and his advice for young researchers.
