“Don’t get too frustrated!”
Meet our IMPRS-APS alumna Katinka von Grafenstein.
Transitioning from academia to industry does not necessarily mean leaving your research field behind. In her role as a scientist at Marvel Fusion, Katinka von Grafenstein – an alumna of the IMPRS-APS – continues to build on her PhD experience in the group of Stefan Karsch at the Centre for Advanced Laser Applications (CALA).
The main difference? She now shoots lasers at solid targets instead of gas.
In this interview, Katinka looks back at her doctoral research and her experiences at the IMPRS-APS, gives insights into her role at Marvel Fusion now and shares advice for new PhD students.
