Building lasers

September 10, 2025

At the beginning of September, we visited the laser manufacturer Innolas Laser in Krailing.

Company visits are a key element of our graduate program, giving students insights into potential career paths. Fortunately, the Munich area offers an ideal environment for exploring the laser industry and last Friday, our IMPRS-APS doctoral candidates once again had the chance to do just that.

Our IMPRS-APS students visited InnoLas Laser, a laser manufacturer based in Krailling. The company specializes in building modular flashlamp- and laser diode-pumped laser systems, primarily for research applications, but also for use in industry, medicine, and beyond.

General Manager Norbert Graf welcomed the group and provided an overview of the company’s history, products, and areas of expertise. The visit continued with a behind-the-scenes tour of the laboratories, guided by InnoLas employees Dorian Percheon and Dorothée Niethammer, who shared insights into the company's research and development activities. The visit concluded with a relaxed lunch, offering students the chance to connect and exchange with the InnoLas team in an informal setting.

A big thank you to InnoLas Laser for hosting us and giving our young researchers a valuable look into the world of laser manufacturing!
